🌱 Funding Opportunities for Sustainable Biomass Projects in Europe
As part of our exploration of economic feasibility and funding opportunities for biomass projects, the SUSRUD Project highlights two key EU programs that are driving innovation, education, and sustainable energy transitions across Europe: Horizon Europe and Erasmus+.
💡 Horizon Europe
The EU’s flagship research and innovation program supports ambitious projects that advance bioenergy efficiency, the circular economy, and sustainable rural development. Under Cluster 5: Climate, Energy and Mobility, collaborative consortia involving universities, municipalities, and SMEs can access funding that covers up to 100% of research and demonstration costs. These projects help transform innovative ideas into impactful bioenergy solutions, fostering green technologies and cross-sector cooperation.
🎓 Erasmus+ Programme
Beyond its well-known focus on education and training, Erasmus+ actively supports sustainability and renewable energy awareness. It funds capacity-building projects, vocational training, and knowledge exchange to empower farmers, technicians, and local entrepreneurs to use biomass and agricultural residues for clean energy generation. By linking education with innovation, Erasmus+ ensures that communities gain the skills needed to manage sustainable bioenergy systems for the long term.
Together, Horizon Europe and Erasmus+ form a powerful bridge between research excellence, local capacity-building, and real-world implementation accelerating Europe’s transition to a low-carbon and resilient energy future. 🌍
