Our SUSRUD learning trip about biomass energy systems took place in France in November 2025. It was a very interesting time. The consortium decided to establish several surveys, before, during and after the field visits to gather feedback from the participants. For now, we want to introduce to you some comments from the post field visits survey to really demonstrate the relevance of going on site during an EU project about concrete challenges in rural areas. The participants agreed on the fact that field visits were “helpful” they also appreciated the idea to have “negative examples” not only positive examples. In that way, the visits were “educational” to them. Then, the most impactful site for the participants was the “méthagenête biogas digester” in Creuse. Indeed, it’s a project that are involving various stakeholders which was very relevant. Finally, regarding logistical points the weather was very bad in November in France, the participants found that very hard to be concentrate and to drive during the field visits. All of these points about field visits content and logistical elements has been very useful for the consortium to be able to keep them maybe for another EU project. Who knows ?
