About Us
Sustainable Rural Development Supported by Biomass Energy – SUSRUD is a EU project under the Erasmus+ KA210-VET program, dedicated to fostering sustainable rural development through the use of biomass energy.
With partners from France, Bulgaria, Portugal and Türkiye, the project tackles key challenges faced by rural communities, such as high energy costs, environmental sustainability and economic resilience. By integrating biomass energy solutions into vocational education and training, SUSRUD provides farmers, educators and local communities with innovative knowledge and practical tools to improve energy efficiency and sustainability in agriculture.
Why Susrud ?
Rural areas in the EU are disproportionately affected by rising energy costs and a reliance on non-renewable sources. The agriculture sector consumes a significant amount of energy, increasing financial pressure on farmers and contributing to environmental challenges. Biomass energy presents an opportunity to transform agricultural residues and waste into a valuable energy resource, reducing costs and enhancing energy independence.
The SUSRUD project directly supports EU climate and energy goals, aligning with the EU Green Deal, the Renewable Energy Directive and global sustainability projects. By promoting biomass energy education and adoption, the project empowers rural communities to embrace green solutions, contribute to a circular economy and enhance economic resilience.
SUSRUD implements the following key activities
